Hi, Recently I had the SRS red light problem coming up constantly. I
took it to my dealer to see if its covered under HONDA CARE but
apparently the service folks told me that the OPDS system in the
passenger or driver seat had a problem and it would take around 600
bucks to fix it, and is not covered by any warranty. I told them not
to fix it and just leave the problem as is. They charged me 100 bucks
for the diagnostic, but the crazy thing was the SRS light was now shut
off. I asked them whether airbags would deploy now or not, and they
said they will unless the light comes back again. They asked me not to
use cell phone, or place small items on the passenger seat. The SRS
light has not come up again. I am really mad at the dealer for kind of
misguiding me into fixing the OPDS system, when the problem really did
    not exist.
Has such an SRS problem reoccured for anybody after repairs/resetting
the light? Also is charging 100 bucks for that diagnostic for real? I
thought they could have just tried to reset the light first and go
    from there. Any suggestions/comments?
    Thanks

  3. I had a problem with my SRS light also. I have a 2001 Honda Accord 5 Speed
with the 4 cyl. with the Honda Care Extended Waranty. It came on one day
and never shut off for months. I took it in and they told me they would
check it and that if it wasn't covered then I would owe then 80 bucks just
for looking at it. They looked at it and told me in wasn't covered. The
OPDS part had gone bad. I paid them the 80 bucks and then went and talked
to the Dealer that sold me the care. He then talked to the man incharge of
the service dept. The service dept. manager then talk to a rep with Honda
Care and he said it isn't covered in the book but should. So they replaced
my OPDS and refunded my 80 bucks. The OPDS is not covered in the book. But
the rest of the SRS system is. The OPDS is the only think not covered. If
you have any questions on who to talk to about getting mur cash and car
fixed email me. I would be glad to help.
