my wife likes this car. i think it is probably mechanically very sound
but my bedroom slippers look better than this car. my concern is that
if honda ever decides to make this a snappy looking car i want to buy
it. i guess that i am asking when people might think they would restyle
it. Near future or no? Thanks.

Would a TL be a good compromise?

The Type R adds quite a bit of style inside & out. The wing's not quite as
offensive as an Imprezza for example and the body kit is subtle but much
better looking. Dash, gearknob, etc. inside all nice looking.

If you just want a better looking inside (well .. there's a small wing on
the boot and I think bigger rims), the 2.0 Sport model is nice enough. Not
    very exciting to drive though.

Accura cars are made by Honda. I suggest that you check them out before
you buy the Accord. You might like those cars much better. The top of the
line Accura is really great but it is very expensive.

Hear about Accura's a lot here but never seen one. Are they for US market
    only?

Waiving the right to remain silent, "al"
I believe so, they are built in the USA. And, that's "Acura," with
    one "c."

sure you have, only with a different badge... :)
for instance, honda integra (EDM) equals acura integra (USDM)...

Acura cars (made by Honda) are sold all over the world. You would probably
have to visit the largest city nearest your home in order to find an Acura
dealership. I suggest that you buy a copy of a magazine entiled,
Car and Driver. It may have an article about an Acura car. I also
encourage you to visit a Toyota dealership. They also make excellent cars.

That'll explain it! See plenty of Integra's. The Type R's the noisey one
with bugger all in the way of carpet, etc.!

Are you American by any chance!? I point you to one of the main, trusted,
car review sites in the UK:

    http://www.parkers.co.uk/

You tell me if you see the word Acura in there? Oh .. by the way .. I live
near London. I think that qualifies as a big city, don't you?

Toyota make boring cars - went to a track day in Brands Hatch once with
Toyota for them to impress us all with their new cars. All very solid and
functional I'm sure, but I could never ever buy one! My Mum had a Yaris,
which I occasionally borrow when I visit. It's boring. I learnt to drive
in a Carina II and it was boring as hell too. For men with 5 kids & cord
    trousers I'm afraid ;p

  11. For those reading this outside North America, the Acura badge is only
used here, though most (or is it all?) of their vehicles are sold
    elsewhere under the Honda name.

    Acura RSX = Honda Integra
    Acura RL = Honda Legend
    Acura NSX = Honda NSX
Acura TSX = Honda Accord Euro
Acura TL = Honda Inspire / Honda Sabre (previous generation, when it was
known as the 3.2TL, don't know about the current one)

    There's also a Canada-only model, the 1.7EL, which is a fancy,
    leather-and-wood-and-everything Honda Civic

You are right--I live in America--or as you may know--the colonies.

I suggest that you visit the local Honda shop and talk to the service
manager. Ask him if he has ever seen an Acura or knows the location of an
Acura dealership. It's my guess that if they sell Acura cars in the UK--he
has worked on several of them in his shop.

They don't. This whole Acura/Honda (and Lexus/Toyota) business has to do
with stupid import regulations in the US. The Japanese manufacturers were
forced to build their cars in the US if they didn't want to pay hefty import
taxes (protectionism, anyone?). So they split the Honda brand into Acura
(the high end, typically made in Japan) and Honda (the lower end, usually
made in the US) to get the mass volume to sell without the extra taxes.

Pretty much everywhere else the same cars go under the Honda badge.

Toyota and Lexus is the same deal, except that Toyota went with the Lexus
brand outside of the US as well.

Thanks for the information. I did NOT know that there were no Honda or
Acura dealerships in the United Kingdom. I believe that you are wrong
about one of your points. I am fairly certain that they Honda vehicles in
Japan as well as in America. I live in California. My 1999 Honda Accord
was made in Japan. For some reason--possibly shipping costs--many of the
Honda vehicles in California were made in Japan. The American Honda
factory is located on the east coast--California is located on the west
coast and has several ocean ports.

This seems to be getting awfully complicated!!! There are Honda dealerships
all over the world man! Sheesh ... have you never left your own doorstep!?

Acura is purely an American thing. See .. it ain't that hard!
