The above mentioned fan and shroud is currently out of the car while I try
to find a (reasonably priced) replacement.

Will ill it be ok to still use the A/C at cruising speed i.e while the
condenser is getting a reasonable airflow to it, or should I just leave it
alone until the new fan is fitted?

Also, anyone got any ideas on this : my auto trans is engaging the lockup
clutch too early, and releasing it too late e.g it will drop into 4th at
30mph on light throttle and immediately lockup, then if I need to accelerate
slightly the lockup stays engaged and 'labours' the box, I need to give it a
bit more throttle to persuade it to unlock.

My fix at the moment is to run in 'sport' mode round town, and as all this
mode seems to do is delay the 3rd - 4th shift by about 500rpm it does the
trick nicely but is likely costing me a few mpg.

The trans was rebuilt 5000 miles ago and apart from this problem is shifting
perfectly, I have a 2 year/12,000 mile warranty on the rebuild but I doubt
they will entertain this problem as a fault.

    Any thoughts?
