Accord-EX 1994 starter problem?

Discussion in 'Accord' started by Nestor Ballesteros, Jun 12, 2004.

  1. I have an Accord-EX (stick - shift) and in the last 2 months I've been
    having problems starting the car; it sounds click, click (5 or more
    times) before starts. One time, a month ago, the starter won't stop
    even after turning off the engine, I had to disconnect the battery.
    The original starter was replaced around 5 years ago with a re-built one.
    Could it be that the problem is the starter (again) or what else??
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Nestor,

    Sounds like the starter solenoid (used to be called throw-out bearing) is
    bad. Sometimes it is available separate from the rest of the starter, but
    usually you have to replace the whole thing.

    ++++++++++++++++++++

    Have you tried to jiggle the starter? One guy had the (big mounting)
    bolts come loose, and had similar symptoms.
