Hi all, has anyone tried playing a dvd movie on the '04 accord
navigation system? I am aware that it uses a dvd-rom to read/access
the map. Is it even possible to play movies on this system, or any
mods to have the capability of playing movies? maybe installing
    patch/decoder for dvd movies?

  2. Don't be a moron. It's not only dangerous but illegal. Plus, it's cheaper to
buy a portable DVD player, 7" ones cost less than $180.

On most nav systems that can play DVDs, there is an interlock to prevent
you from playing a DVD with the car moving. So, If you want to try, set
the parking brake, put the tranny in park and put the key in "ACC". Good
    luck!

I seriously doubt that it would be possible without completely
redesigning the unit. Even if it could read the video from a DVD,
there wouldn't be any audio. Remember that, if you remove the nav
DVD, you will have to do the installation all over again.

Audio wise, I talked to a personel at honda and found out that the
navigation system do have audio capability, ex. when it prompt the
driver to turn right or left. although, you might wanna check on that
    to.

No i dont plan on playing it while driving, thats just common sense.
If the capability is available, the drive is there, why buy another.
