    Hi all,

I have a 91 Accord DX, and I want to replace its Transmission Control
Unit. I bought the tools to remove the steel plate (under the
passanger side carpet) to which the TCU is attached. But I now notice
that the nuts which are used to attach the TCU to the steel plate seem
to be welded onto the plate. So I am not able to turn these nuts.

How can I detach the TCU from that steel plate?

    Thank you,
    Fijoy

I think my Prelude mounting is similar to your Accord configuration. You
have to unfasten the plate from the floorboard and turn it over to get
access to the mounting bolts. They thread into the nuts that you see. It
helps to disconnect some of the cables that attach to the transmission
control computer and the engine control computer. Getting the plate and the
computers out takes some contortion. Once it's out of the car you'll have
easy access to the four mounting bolts of the TCU.
