The November issue of Consumer Reports reviews, head to head, a number
of "performance all-season" tires frequently recommended for use on an
Accord. They are compared as to dry braking, wet braking, handling,
hydroplaning, rolling resistance (info not found on tirerack.com), snow
traction, ice braking, ride and noise. Tires reviewed include the OEM
Michelin MXV4 Plus and the two most recommended replacements: the
Bridgestone Potenze RE950 and the Dunlop SP Sport A2. The 31 tires
reviewed also include less frequently recommended tires such at the
Bridgestone Turanza LS-H, Continental ContiTouring Contact CH95 and the
Yokohama Avid H4. Which tire scored best is very dependent upon
personal trade offs such as need for Winter traction, handling vs ride
and noise, and gas milage. It is an interesting read.

I personally hated the MXV4's on my 98 accord. Horrible grip, they squealed
in 20 mph turns. They do perform well on my 01 Camry V6 with 16" rims.
I replaced my Accord tires with the Dunlop SP Sport A2 and love them. A tad
noisier but the tradeoff is a great handling tire wet or dry...though I
haven't tried them in the snow yet.

The OEM Michelin MXV4 Plus tires are frequently lambasted in this group
and elsewhere. The CR review reveals them to be very pricey, but not an
unreasonable OEM choice as they have the highest 3-season driving scores
of any tire with excellent rolling resistance. As I live in Atlanta
with hardly any snow and my priorities are: #1 wet braking and
hydroplane resistance: #2 dry braking and handling - my replacement tire
of choice will be the RE950. The MXV4 Plus does score better than the
RE950 in ride, noise, ice braking and snow traction. Nothing scores as
poorly as the RE950 in snow traction. The Dunlop SP Sport A2 only
outscores the MXV4 Plus in wet braking. Squealing was not an evaluation
    category.

The most commonly suggested replacement tire for my spouse's CRV is the
Yokohama Avid Touring, which is not even reviewed in this article.
