Isn't part of the test verifying that all of the bulbs come on when you
    first turn the key on?

Remove jewlery, reach up behind dash find the right lamp, and remove the
bulb. Your owner's manual will tell you which fuses to try if this isn't
    your cup of tea. :)

Not when you want to *disable* the light. ;-)

I would not mess with trying to disconnect any fues to turn off that
light, I was told by the dealer that you could do some serious damge to
    the rest of the panel.

I meant what the tester will do, not what you want to have happen.

AFAICS there are only two possible ways round this.

    Method 1
    ----------
The UK MOT only checks if the light comes on and
goes off again when you turn the car on. They do not
check if the ABS actually works. This means you
have to get the light to do this. One way I can think
of is to wire it in parallel with the SRS bulb, and just
    short the ABS bulb connector.

    Method 2
    ----------
Just do what the drivers of all old-bangers do. Ask
around for the dodgiest MOT station in the area. How
likely do you think it is that they will notice no ABS
light if the bulb is "gone"? Not very.

PS Are you selling this car? If so then be very clear
about the state of the vehicle's ABS when you sell the
car, or you could end up in deep trouble if there's an
    accident.

I've reached up in the dash (with the power + lights on) to 'borrow' the
ABS bulb to replace another bulb that went dead. You can feel the rows
of bulbs, and they just rotate a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise to come out.

If you disable the ABS light, they may not even be sure whether your
year / model was supposed to have ABS . . . So they may not pursue it
any further (unless they look under the hood and see the extra plumbing) :-(

I'l bet ABS was optional in '93.

id take the cluster out, and piggyback a wire/bulb from a different
light (check engine?) to take that spot. that way the ABS light goes on
with the check engine light, and shuts off at the same time.

it was the last of the jap accords in the uk so i think they emptied the
    parts bin and fitted everything

abs , cruise control and air con is mega for a UK car of 93 vintage

its only in recent years over here that air con has caught on
