    Hi group,

I had a chance to test drive 3 new cars today. One was the new 2004
Acura TL, the Honda Accord EX-L 4cyl, and the Accord EX-L V6--- all
automatics. Both were great cars to drive, only I noticed that the
Accord V6 felt less sportier than the TL.

Overall, I came away more impressed with the TL---the way it drives
along with a long list of standard features on the car. The Accord V6
does have a price advantage, although the surround sound system in the
TL is breathtaking. Just wanna hear your thoughts before making a
    future decision.

So what do you guys think? Would definitely like to hear your
    feedback/comments.

  2. TL has 270hp to Accord V6 240hp. Of course it's sportier.

Get the TL. My neighbor got one and it's fantastic.

  3. Personally I would rather get a not so glamorous used Toyota or Honda for
about $6000 and take the $30000.00 that you would have paid over 5 years for
the other cars and put that towards a house...but that is just me and I am
sure you don't want to hear that.

This is coming from someone that bought 4 new cars in a 6 year period, years
ago, and finally learned my lesson about buying new cars.

You simply get what you pay for. The TL asks for more and it delivers.
Except that the increment has an high cost because the Accord will do 90% of
the job. I would be willing to pay more for the TL, no doubt. Anyway, a
portion of the premium will be recovered at resale.

In Toronto, If you put $30,000 down, that'll leave you with about a $200,000
mortgage which will get you a cheap crap located in one of the worst areas in
the city. I'd buy the car and rent a place. Perhaps getting a house in another
city is a good investment, but not in Toronto. Especially now that it looks like
the PC might get into power and sent Toronto to the slaughter house in order to
feed the smaller and more affluent white communities.

If the Real Estate market crashes, do to all these negative factor weighing it
down and people are left homeless. I wouldn't blame higher interest rate, but
rather these Real Estate Agents who have a monopoly on the housing information
and were able to hype the market...

btw, the TL is a great deal.

You're the only one that knows what you want, so figure it out and go
    for it.

I made the same comparison (but why were you comparing a TL to a
    4-cyl. Accord?)

In my case, the EX V6 won, hands down.

The Accord will handle better with a tire replacement. The Michelins
really handicap it. It will never handle as good (and is a little
jiggly), but my wife got tired of peeling herself off the door panel
in my I30t anyway. If I don't drive it hard, why then does it matter?

The TL's looks didn't agree with me. The Accord isn't perfect either,
but was at least not obnoxious.

I am blessed with a great Honda dealer, as well as a great Acura
dealer, both close to home. A tie.

I put a lot of miles on, just commuting to work. And the drivers are
just looking for opportunities to wreck out, it's an unreal 60 miles a
day. If I wreck the Accord, I'll just get a new one. The pricier TL,
well, I'd feel I had to keep it a while longer. Both are very safe
    cars.

Accord has a slightly stiff feel to the steering wheel. The TL is
very compliant and makes you feel like the car will do any
unreasonable thing you ask of it. But whether TL's torque-sensitive
steering is a real improvement over the Accord's speed-sensitive
steering, that's a close call. Mostly it's normal stuff like the
engineering choice of a little spring in the power steering pump that
affects the steering stiffness, not the exotic jazz that's mostly
    marketing.

And when you wear out the tires, they'll cost a Lot More than Accord
    tires.

The Accord doesn't have quite the low-end torque with a 3.0 liter, so
if you value tearing away from stop signs, the TL is more your deal
but isn't great either. If an automatic 20 cents a gallon savings is
    attractive, go for the Accord.

Want 10 hp more? Put premium in the Accord, dynamic timing will
advance it a bit and it will make 250 instead of 240. May take a
while for the computer to adjust.

I don't like any of my neighbors enough to impress them with a TL, so
the Accord was fine in that department too.

Honda Finance will give you 1.9% on Accords right now. The TL is more
like 4.9%. The latter results in lots more interest charges than it
looks. Find a payment calculator on the Internet and compare.

I got the EX V6. No regrets of any kind.

    Cheers.

    JM,

I only compared the TL with the Accord v6. I only drove the 4 cyl
Accord to just get a feel of it

    Thanks, Bill
