I am considering buying a 2004 Honda Accord or an Acura. Can
someone please give me some guidance as to why buy one vs the
other besides that the Acura is a couple of thousand dollars higher
in price. I am leaning towards the Accord because it is simpler and
has higher mileage. On the other hand the Acura has traction
control and stability control, but these features mean more
complexity. Please give me your thoughts, especially focusing
on miles per gallon (4 cylinder engines)... Al

I have been debating this with myself for a while now. Simply put, I don't like the styling of the new Accord, sedan or Coupe. The TSX fits the bill perfectly in that regard. Of course it costs more, but I am sure that it will be more rewarding. VSA is really a plus. Gas milage is only so-so, but it can run on regular too. This is a case that overall package wins over specifications.

  4. Which Acura? RSX? TSX?

Acura costs more because it has a better warranty and service. When I bought
one, I received a gift box from Acura containing a keychain, tire gauge and
    other goodies.
I also got loaners for service.

  5. It's also *significantly* smaller.

    I *disagree*.

I had the occasion to compare a TSX and a TL side by side. I can tell you
that in the rear of the TSX, there is almost as much room as a TL, albeit a
bit narrower. I was suprised because I thought that I would be cramped in
the rear of the TSX... not.

  8. About what?

Oh, I see--you're TOP POSTING, which is bad. See, when you top post, no
one knows what you're talking about.

If you disagree that the TSX is *significantly* smaller than the Accord,
at least inside, do yourself a favor: go sit in both of them, and go
    look at the specs.

The TSX would be a no brainer if you plan on doing some aggressive
    driving.

An interesting alternative (assuming annual mileage will be extremely
high) is the new 2005 2.0 Diesel Passat.

I want to thank everyone for your posts. I have bought a 2004 Accord EX with the leather option. I passed on the navigation because I already use a laptop with GPS for a small RV and plan to use it in the new Accord when I need it. I paid just under $22K in Ventura, CA and I felt this was discounted enough to make the '04 worth it rather than wait for the '05. This vehicle replaces a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so it is night and day from this. I decided on the Accord for the price, mileage, reliability, appointments, and less complexity than the Acura... Al
