It's not really a Chevy either. It is a Chevy/Suzuki/Daewoo creation that
is built in Korea and (most likely) has no GM parts.

  2. GM controls majority stake in Daewoo and parts of Suzuki.... why
    wouldn't it be GM/Chevy?

You sound like those retarded Saturn owners who used to claim it wasn't
GM, even though it was owned, funded and run by GM.

    Regardless, Aveo is not KIA.

I know GM controls both. I only implied that the Aveo has Suzuki or Daewoo
running parts, rather than domestic GM parts.

Not me. I always knew that Saturn was all GM, even though their minivan has
    a Honda engine. :)

Correct. However, all Korean car brands, including Hyundai, lag behind
Honda and Toyota in fuel economy. And I believe that is what the other
poster was talking about as it pertained to the Aveo.

    Tush,
It's best not to worry about those issues since there are more important
things to worry about. The truth is that it does not matter which company
built a certain part. In some cases, parts are made by sub-contractors
that are not even owned by any car company. When a part breaks--just buy a
new part from the car company's dealership that has its name on the back
of your car and on the title of your car.

    its a daewoo.

GM bought em, shut down their USA dealerships, then started rebadging em
as chevies. suzuki also gets a piece of the pie with a model or 2 of
their own. the forenza, or whatever.

I mistakenly group them all together (Kia/Daewoo,Hyundai) since they have
same parts supplier and produce near identical cars (but Kia's nicer
looking). GM seems to have big plans for Kia but at the moment, both
manufacture are producing similar stuff with identical engines. Somehow, It
would appear that Hyundai is benefiting from all the GM's inputs.

  8. The last 2 weeks have been spent looking at new cars. We drove about 15
total including Accords, Altimas, Sonatas, Elantras, Galants, PT Cruisers,
Matrix and after all was said and done we chose a 05 Camry because of price,
features, and warranty options. Got the 4 cylinder, 5 speed auto with
cruise, power windows, door locks, drivers seat, and radio/cd with steering
wheel buttons . I couldn't get factory satellite, too bottom end.
I took it to a hamfest in Arlington TX, and got stuck in traffic jam that
lasted about an hour. My gas mileage suffered, I got 28.8 mpg. On the way
back to Tulsa going 70 most of the way for about 250 miles I got 40.8 mpg
    with AC on.
I am nearly totally satisfied with the choice, quiet, responsive,
comfortable. I think I'm used to the spongy brakes. One thing I noticed is
that the odometer registers nearly 3 percent high and that means with 36,000
on it and no warranty it'll have only 35,000 miles on it. I'll have to see
what they can do about correcting both problems. I have not purchased a new
car since 1972 because of the nasty way car dealers treated me and wasted my
time. But with the Internet it was pleasurable, an outstanding learning
experience, and its about time the consumer had an option.

What a joke. Like there are any Chevy Aveo "purists" out there. LOL

Regardless, a real purist probably hasn't bought a new car in
decades.... before NAFTA and global economy. I mean nothing's sacred
anymore.... FORD owns Jaguar..... MB, Lexus, BMW built in America....
    Harley Davidson using Japanese parts!

    trailblaser/isuzu ascender/GMC envoy/whateverthefuckelsetheycallit

and trying to pass it off as a saab SUV.

  13. Are you suggesting Ford owns Mercedes? Not so, MB & Chrysler are one big
company these days, no Ford in sight.
