airbag disassembly

    hey all,
    i need alittle advice. i need to remove my steering wheel to do some work
    on it, but i'm not exactly sure about the airbag unit. what causes these
    things to go off, and if i take off the steering wheel (and remove power
    from the airbag) will it go off? additionally, are there any other
    sircumstances that would cause it to go off during this procedure?

    any help is appreciated
