Anyone know if there are bearings in the timing belt
    unit/make/components? Thanks.

Forgot to add, particularly in Honda V6 3.5L engines? Thanks.

If you are referring to a regular timing belt in a Honda car--the answer is NO.

The tensioner pulley that holds the timing belt tight IS a bearing, and
they sometimes get noisy. You haven't told us anything about WHY you're
asking this question. Are you asking this for a friend? Have you been
told something suspicious about your car? Maybe somebody around here has
    had the same problem.

Well, the reason I didn't mention the reason for posing this question
is because, I'm afraid, as gracious as some members in here have been,
I may be wearing out their patience with my pinging problem which I've
had right from the beginning in my Honda Pilot.

Mos are well aware of this problem and I'm afraid I may have seem like
I was treating this group like my own personal "askjeeves".

Anyway, going back to your answer, when the tensioner pulley that
holds the timing belt can get noisy, can it get that way because
there's something wrong with it? Perhaps the tension needs to be
adjusted or is it something that's harmless and I should just learn to
    live with it? Thanks!

Anyway, going back to your answer, when the tensioner pulley that
there is an open recall on pilots for this problem. depends on the vin
    number.
the hydraulic tensioner fails and the timing advances, causing ping.
call the dealer and have them run the vin. or post it here.

    Steve,

Sorry I don't know much about the Pilot, except that the TB tensioner is
apparently automatic. For pinging, (if that's what it really is)about
all you can do, as the owner, is try different fuel. Enjoy your new
vehicle. Just keep your facts in writing and make sure they get it fixed
before the warranty runs out. :)

Yeah, as per the TSB, I had the timing belt auto-tensioner replaced
which supposedly can leak dampening fluid, resulting in noise from the
engine. And the pinging noise has subsided quite a bit, but I'm still
    experiencing it though.

Cool, thanks for your suggestion. I will keep everything documented.

i've seen a few instances where the rear cam slipped a tooth when
doing the tensioner and they ping from the rear cylinders. check the
static timing, there's inspection holes on both cam covers.
