Balancer shaft seal replacement (92 Accord)

Last October while driving, the oil warning light illuminated. Long
story short, the engine dumped most of the oil within a very short
period. We're talking minutes here if not less. Got under the car and
verified oil had leaked from behind the left side lower timing cover,
indicating to me the front balancer shaft seal went south. The T/B and
all the usual suspects were replaced back in 98 at the dealer including
all seals (crank, b/s and cam) according to the receipt. I'm guessing
the b/s seal retainer was not installed as I'm not sure when this part
became available. However doing a little google researching indicated a
TSB for 94-97 2.2l engines with this problem. Seems to me pre 94 2.2l
engines were also having their fare share of failing b/s seals as well.

So now I'm rolling up my sleeves and thinking it's time to get this
puppy back on the road after sitting seven months idle. I've got two
other cars to fall back on and therefore was not in a big rush to repair
the Accord. Since I previously replaced the T/B myself on my 95 Civic
EX, I would like to replace the b/s seal and do a T/B job on the Accord
since it's at 175k miles. Questions regarding seal replacement:

1) First, has anyone in here replaced the b/s seal on a 2.2l engine?

2) Any recommendation for an installation tool such as the press on type
from SP tool P/N 60170?? Looks like this:

3) Anyone have a preference between the Honda b/s seal retainer vs the
aftermarket by Sure Seal? I like the way the Sure Seal fits and mounts
myself.

Make sure to have a 17 mm deep socket at hand for the motor mount, and a
good manual. It sounds like you've got the skills you need. There are
some posts you can search at odyclub.com, but little depth. Exploded
views at www.slhondaparts.com are helpful too, and of course you need
the tool for holding the crankshaft pulley mentioned here

good air tools.

Sorry I don't know about the seals, only done the TB and pump a few
times.

I already have the crank bolt off. I have the Schley crank pulley holder
(50mm hex) used prior on the Civic and now this Accord. I guess I got my
money's worth thus far from this tool. I also have a 17/19 mm deep
impact sockets (no air gun). Basically I've got everything disassembled
including both upper and lower timing belt covers. And just like I
figured, the b/s seal was dislodged from the bore and no retainer. So
there ya go. I'm currently putting a parts list together including a
seal press on tool either from the dealer (by Kawa Seiki) or possibly
from a company called Sir Tools at: http://www.sirtools.com/asian.htm
I have a good friend at the Honda dealership parts department, who not
only gives me a great price (and believe me, he does) but ships to my
house free of charge!!! God I hope he still works there.

I have the Helms shop manual, but honestly, the tech writers could have
done a better job IMO. Luckily, there was someone on the net that did a
pretty comprehensive illustration on a 2.2L timing/balancer job. I'm
glad I downloaded it a couple of years ago, because it's no longer
there. You can really screw up mis-aligning the rear balancer timing
among other things. The weather here hasn't been the most cooperative
and it's no fun doing this on a gravel driveway :-0. Maybe I'll take
some pictures if I have the time. Thanks again for chiming in...
