Brakes-- Honda or Brembo??

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Matthew Brown, Apr 15, 2004.

  1. I will be doing a brake job later this summer and my 1988 Prelude needs new
rotors and pads all the way around. Obviously Genuine Honda parts are quite
good, but what about some of the rotors and pads from Brembo, EBC, Powerslot
and so forth. What would the advantages and disadvantages be with leaving
the world of Genuine Honda parts?? I am not so concerned about price--
please give advice on performance, brake noise, etc. Since it is a type S,
it is not really going to be burning up the pavement.

Any past experience and advice is greatly appreciated.

You don't need slotted discs, if anything go with cross drilled, these are a
    lot easier on the pads.
Brembo's are nice, and should improve stopping, but then so will new honda
    brakes.

Personally I would go with what evers cheaper, but since your not concerned
    about price, why
    not grab the Brembo.

    my 2 cents

Brembo was one of the OEMs for Honda. They make OE replacement rotors for
the entire line of Hondas for about $40-50US each. Most likely the Genuine
Honda part is made by Brembo.
