    Hello,

Does anyone have the break in document that Honda put out on pre
Maintenance Minder cars? There is a discussion on another forum and
someone asked for it as they didn't believe it suggested 7500 miles
    for the break in period.

    Thanks,
    Nick

why? do you think it more useful than a built-in computer monitoring
system that accurately logs your driving behavior and vehicle usage?

No, someone was asking for it because they had thought it was 5k
    miles.

Thanks for this document but the one that I was looking for referred
only to the break in oil.

    Thanks,
    Nick

  5. It was 7500 miles for my 2005 Honda Pilot. It does not have the maintenance
    minder.

The factory fill is not a "break-in" oil (at Honda, there is NO such
    thing.)
What makes the factory fill special is the lubricant (Molybdenum
disulfide) that is applied to all rotating parts, during engine assembly.
This moly lube mixes with the oil and is consequently circulated through
the engine. The longer the factory fill is left in the engine, the
better... With the advent of the "Maintenance Minder" feature the oil
change interval is no longer debatable. Except for the one year default.

Here's another way to consider the subject, money.
Honda guarantees the engine (power train) to be free of defects for 5
years and 60,000 miles ('08 models.) Why would they skimp on oil, and/or
    recommended change intervals?
