Does anyone remember the Honda Civic VP from the sixth generation? It
slotted between the DX and LX trims. And now Honda doesn't offer a
radio in the DX! If they replaced the DX with a Value Package, it
would put the Civic over the top. On the other hand, the DX has less
weight than the LX (which has a radio) but the LX costs 17K. I would
buy a 2009 Honda Civic VP at 16K.

  2. The Value Package is what they build in the car's final year of
production, right before going to an all-new design. The goal is to
sell more of the older-version cars to people who know the new one is
coming, but who don't want to wait or don't care.

The VP is essentially an incentive package to get people to buy the
older body style the year before the new one comes out.
