Define long time. 6-7 years is not enough to make a difference.

Do not assume that you can not deal a reduced price on 2004. Getting a
discount of 1500-2000$ on a 30000$ car is easy. In november '98, I bought
    my '99 with a 1850$ discount.

It is a bad advice to get a 2003 now, unless you keep the car like 9-10 yrs.

you should then be able to get a better discount on 2003 model than 2004
today since it is consider "old".

if you are making a monthly payment and keeping it for 10 yrs. 2003 is the
way to go. mine is 10 yrs old and even the maintenance cost is cheap on
    accord.

  5. They used to be in bed with Isuzu but they sobered up.

I don't think they will willingly get in bed with anyone for the
foreseeable future. They have stated a commitment to go it alone and
I think they are smart to do so. I don't see many examples of car
companies merging or semi-merging where it worked out that great.
Nissan and Renault might be an exception.

  6. Maybe not in bed but they've traded a few pigs 'n' chickens with GM. The
Isuzu diesel for the Honda V6.

I read an article a while back which suggested that the power control
switch cluster in the doors (windows, locks, mirrors etc.) of an Aston
    Martin was pure Mazda.:)

Don't believe the BS that everything Mazda is 100% Ford. It's not just
Honda and Toyota that make reliable cars. I see a lot of posts from people
in this newsgroup that have problems with their cars, new and used.

The Mazda 6 will come with two engine choices: a new 160 horsepower 2.3
liter four cylinder (Mazda designed), and a 219 horsepower 3.0 liter V6. The
latter powerplant is based on the same engine found in the Tribute SUV and
MPV mini-van....the Ford Duratec. Both engines will have twin camshafts and
four valves per cylinder, as well as Mazda's S-VT sequential valve timing,
which alters valve lift and cam duration depending upon engine load. Jaguar
also uses the Ford V6, but uses a different head and different intake I'm
    sure.

The Mazda 6 is not all Ford. Mazda does a lot to separate themselves as
much as possible from Ford. It just so happens that Ford will use a lot of
Mazda technology when possible. It's all about saving money and making a
profit. I'm sure at some point Honda will become a lot more involved with
other manufacturers to stay competitive. It's just a matter of time. Kind
    of like the Airlines.
