I recently bought a '97 Honda Civic EX. I don't use the factory
installed car alarm and soon found that the alarm would randomly set
itself and then go off when I attempted to open the door. It was
unresponsive to the keyless remote control that came with it at
purchase. I took the car to the dealer and they replaced the remote
and identified a problem with the passanger side door lock solenoid,
which they had to order. The part is now in, but now once again the
car alarm has set itself and is unresponsive to the brand new $100
remote. I can open the car doors with the key, but the alarm goes off
and the car won't start because of the alarm activating the kill
switch. I called the dealer and spoke to the service shop which
recommended I bring the car in first thing Monday morning. I don't
want to pay to have the car towed to the dealership, and can't get the
car to start because of the alarm going off. Does anyone know how to
deactivate the car alarm so I can at least drive it to the dealership?
I'm willing to cut wires, and have checked the owners manuel and don't
see anything listed for any fuses for the car alarm. The Haynes manuel
doesn't cover the anti-theft system and only recommends going to the
    dealer.
