I have just bought a 2000 model year United Kingdom spec Accord 2.0 SE Exec,
which comes fitted with a BOSE head unit. The unit has CD controls, but no
changer. I was quoted a fairly ludicrous sum for a changer (a pioneer, I
think) by my local dealer, but I strongly suspect that the unit may be
compatible with a variety of different devices, and would prefer to avoid
the dealer mark up. Any ideas?

When I bought my Accord Executive, W reg 2000 I also asked the dealer to fit a
cd changer compatible, with the Bose unit. He said that they put all of their
audio work out to a local specialist (Southampton). They fitted a Pioneer 6 disc
unit (Honda branded) as that would work with the 6 dedicated buttons on the head
unit. As I had the hatchback the unit was installed in the standard place inside
the nsr wing. I think that the saloon type fits on brackets under the parcel
    shelf in the boot.
In January 2001 it cost me £208.51 + vat for supply and fit which I thought was
    reasonable.

Thanks, Tony, most useful. Yes I guess you're right about the price -
it's just that you can usually get a good package deal on a new
headunit plus changer for under £300. Do you know the model number of
    the pioneer by any chance?

    Cheers,
