My check engine light came on last night and it goes out when the car is shut
down and restarted.....but then it comes back on.....Manual says something
about emmissions and not to drive highway and get it checked out as soon as you
can.....Doesn't sound ominous but curious as to "others experiences" with such
    a problem!

My mechanic is absolutely GREAT and under charges me(lucky me) He is an old
timer who is "loaded" and just likes to work on cars!

I like to have some fore-knowledge before I see him so your thoughts are
    extremely helpful!

  2. Neil,

If your gas cap wasn't tightened properly, it will take two or three
more trips for the light to reset itself.

Regarding stage performances: When everyone else has finished playing,
you should not play any notes you have left over. -

Hope this is applicable to the '94s, as I think they are still ODB-I:

Peel back the carpet in the angled part of the passenger footwell. You
should see a small round aperture about 1/4" in diameter. Turn the ignition
on (but don't start the car) and count the number of blinks from the red
light. There may be a mix of long and short blinks, then a noticeably
longer pause as the sequence repeats.

Count those blinks and report here. This will tell us the code that the
error has set. Your mechanic will do this as well.

I "TIGHTENED" the gas cap and after about 4 or 5 restarts the light seems to
    have reset!!!
Easiest solution to a problem I have ever experienced!
Hopefully the light will remain off and that this solved the problem!

    THANKS!!!
