I am pretty familiar with the Accord generations, but not the Civic.
Could someone please explain the Civic generations over the last 10
years or so? I understand the Civic was redesigned in 1996. If that
is correct, you can start from there. Thanks.

    Here's my 2 cents.

1988 - Introduction of 4 valve per cylinder Si Hatch. A very high ratio
of these cars are still on the road in racing condition. A Hatch with
tons of character, especially in the racy red.

1993 - Model is given a more sporting appearance, especially the Si
Hatch. Introduction of the Si Coupe. Body is a little stiffer then
previous model, but car still feels as light and nimble as previous
    model.

1996 - Extreme refinements are made to body and chassis. Base engine
grows from 1.5L to 1.6L. Car is given a more grown up and conservative
appearance but sporty double wishbone suspension is retained. Engine
becomes smarter and is given LEV emission rating. Incidence of engine
head failure is eliminated. Car's sporting nature is fluffed over by
spongy shocks and bad tires. Even with bad ranking, in magazine's
comparison test, (do to bad tires and power sapping auto tranny) car
still becomes number 1 seller in Canada. In my opinion, the best Civic
    Model ever made.

2001 - Base engine grows from 1.6L to 1.7L. Side air bag equipped coupe
is given the best crash ratting possible for any vehicle. Car's emission
is improved to ULEV. Expensive double wishbone suspension system is
eliminated in place of cheap and compact MacPherson Struts. Car is no
longer nimble, do to new suspension system which was a quality that kept
Civic owners loyal. Struts tend to fail prematurely (good news, Tokico is
coming out with a Strut for the 2001 model later this year).

Actually, I found the same page you reference on Google before I got
your answer. With everything known to man available on Google, we
could just do away with these newsgroups! Thanks anyway.
