Has anyone else in this group bought a Civic GX? I purchased a 2005 GX
and installed the Phill station last week. I am completely thrilled
with the result. I no longer have to go to a gas station and the fuel
I "pump" in my garage is about $1.30 per gallon.
One of the best vehicles Honda has ever made.

No GX here but I want to get away from lining OPECs pockets as much as
possible, not sure about natural-gas though, I only want one smog
machine at a time so would need to rent for road trips ?

You can look up the station locations at
    http://afdcmap.nrel.gov/locator/LocatePane.asp
There are 5 stations in Houston and 29 stations in the state of Texas.
The GX gets between 200 and 250 miles per tank, so you can take it on
roadtrips. I frequently take it from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and only
    make one stop.

Would renting occasionally be a bad thing?
I know people that have huge trucks so that they can tow a trailer
occasionally. Some drive them everyday, some leave them sitting unless
they are towing the trailer. Renting when needed might be a great deal.

On a daily basis, you could have an efficient nimble car, and if you were
going to take a long trip, you could rent some highway boat.

In the SF Bay Area, the Civic GX is allowed in the carpool lane, which
could be a major benefit. The home filling station almost makes this like
an electric vehicle, recharging overnight in the garage.
