Civic questions

  1. Hello all,

I am looking to buy a Honda Certified Pre-Owned Civic in the next few
months, probably between the years of 1999-2001. I hope some of you
guys/gals can fill me in on some of the nuances of the civic for these
    years!

    Thanks in advance,

The Civic doesn't have any nuances, there the best Jap
small car you can buy for $18,000. At lot of my skateboard
buds moms own them and none has had any nuances that I even heard
of. They're better than the Ford Focus they have lots
of nuances and look funny too. ;)

I bought a 99 LX (certified) this past January... It's great! (btw, I had
an 87 Civic before that). Anyway, I don't know of any kind of problems to
expect... it IS a Honda, afterall. AND, since it is certified, you have
some warranty (though I doubt you'll need it). AND, with certification you
get road side assistance (again, you'll probably never need it). I really
love my Civic... it's hard to believe it's the same car as that 87 that it
    replaced :)

    My $.02

  5. In the US, the Civic was redesigned for the 2001 model year. So you
may want to decide which version (1996-2000 or 2001-current) you prefer,
since your model year range crosses the change.

Trim levels are CX, DX, LX, EX in order of increasing features.
The HX is a higher fuel economy version, while the Si is a sportier
    version.

On the 2001, be prepared for some front strut problems. Mine (2001 LX) were
jsut replaced under warranty at 8000 mi, and the dealer said straight out
that it was a problem with a batch of the '01s.

Get the 1999 or 2000. The 2001 is a newer model but more boring. Also,
every new release of a Civic tends to have some minor bugs which usually
takes a year or two to clear-up.
