Can anyone tell me the difference between the reduction and non-reduction
    type starters?
Which one do I have in my 91 Civic Std. HB?

Reduction starters have internal gearing to increase torque available at
the flywheel. Not sure which type you have. For all I know they could be
    interchangeable.

Honda uses the gear reduction starter for cars that will live in cold
climates. So, if you don't encounter sub-zero ambient temps. The
non-reduction starter will work, and is probably cheaper.
