My son-in-law and daughter have an '02 Civic EX that they bought new in
Oct. 01. Has been a great car and we service it ourselves, oil every 5000
, auto trans service 20000 and we only use Honda fluid. This Tues. while
he was driving to work , he was starting off from a light and the car made
the 1-2 and the 2-3 fine. When it was time for the 3-4 shift the engine
revved up and the trans was no longer operable. Coasted to slde of road
and stopped. fluid ok but would not move forward or back Had it towed to
the nearest Honda dealer. Luckily when we bought this car we bought the
7yr-75000 extended warranty from Honda Care. We got the car back Friday
with a Honda remanufactured trans, they paid the towing and the rental car
with no complaint. The total bill was just a little over $3000, of which we
paid $50. I was surpised the trans failes in the Civic. But we are extremly
happy with the way we were treated by Honda Care.
