    Hello:

I am trying to drain and refill coolant for 97 Accord V6. I can locate the
air-bleeding bolt, but can't locate the two drain bolts on engine body. can
anyone send a drawing, which I can locate the drain bolts.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Anthony

By any chance do you mean the radiator drain bolt?

A typical Honda (or I suppose most any car) has, in addition to the air bleed
valve, at least one radiator drain bolt and at least one engine block drain
    bolt.

For the radiator drain bolt, try putting your car info in at
    http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/catdisplay.jsp , then select
    "Radiator."

The info for a V-6 unfortunately appears to be rather incomplete. Maybe get some
ideas from this site for other Accords listed. Or www.slhonda.com may have the
    radiator drawings for your V-6.

Also, did you check your owner's manual for directions on this? If so, sorry to
state the obvious. Some folks aren't aware the owner's manual has good info,
including drawings, on maintenance in it.

    Hi Caroline:

I found the radiator drain bolt, but can't find drain bolts on engine block.
The user manual doesn't give very clear drawing about their location, it
only says there are two bolts on either side of engine block.

Tried the two links, but no luck. Any another way to find the info?

Here's a drawing of one of the engine block drain plugs on a 1998 Accord V-6.
    It's item 9: http://tinyurl.com/5a9vp

You'll likely have to remove (or maneuver around) some interference to get to
    it.

Note that it's a large diameter bolt: 28 mm. The head is smaller IIRC, maybe 21
or 23 mm. The point is that the bolt head is larger than any other bolt head in
    the vicinity.

Public libraries often have Chilton manuals for specific Honda makes. The
    Chilton drawings are often helpful.

Keep checking back here as someone may post with more specifics.

  5. Please note that those block drains are usually a BEAR to get out.

Which opens up the whole "do you drain the engine block or do you fuggetabout
that little amount of old coolant in there (if possible)" can of worms.

It's true a lot of folks, if not changing coolant types (perhaps among other
things), don't bother with the engine block drain bolts.

You are right about that. I don't mess with that. I just drain the radiator
    and do it often.
