do you need it? It is to get sleep when driving. I used it just few
times (just to see how it is).

I love it. Set it 5 over and relax. I use it constantly, even on
secondary streets. It really boosts your fuel economy. I had it in my
si which was recently stolen. It was very convenient to use and being a
5 speed the tranny did not hunt around trying to keep the set speed
    like a pansy automatic does.

I can't answer your question, but I have never been very happy with the
cruise on my 97 civic. It doesn't hold the speed nearly as constant
other cars I have driven like our 03 accord. Seems like it is just way
too slow adjusting the throttle. When releasing the gas after engaging
the cruise (or just speeding up to pass someone) the speed will usually
drop 3-5 mph below the set point before it finally gives it some gas to
get back up to the set speed.

That's because it's not adjusted correctly, or has gone out of
    adjustment since it was installed.

Aha! I didn't realize that it could be adjusted and always assumed it
just sucked. I found directions on how to adjust it, so I guess I will
have to give that a try.
