Any ideas on why my cruise control would just stop working. I have checked
the fuse and it is ok. I have a 92 accord. Thanks.

You could check the switches at the brake and clutch pedals. The one for
the brake is usually a two-pole switch, so that the cruise part of it
may be broken even if the brake light part works.

Also, if this helps. It just stopped working one day. It doesn't work off
and on. It doesn't work at all. You hit the button on the dash for the
cruise. You hit set on the steering wheel then the light near the gauges
comes on saying that it is turned on, but nothing happens.

Sure. As you know the cruise control will disengage as soon as you step
on the brake or on the clutch. There is a switch on the brake pedal and
one on the clutch pedal for this purpose. If either one of these
switches fail, the cruise control electronics will believe that the
brake or clutch pedal being pressed and thus refuse to engage the cruise
    control.

The brake pedal switch is the same switch that turns on the brake lights
when you step on the brakes. This switch has two sets of contacts, one
set for the brake lights and one set for the cruise control. This means
that even if your brake lights work, the switch may be bad.

Yes, that helps. If the light in the instrument cluster comes on then
the switches at the pedal are working just fine. Just as a test, does
that light go out when you press the brake?

    Is your speedometer working?

Yes, the light on the dash near the gauges does go out when i hit the
brakes. And my spedometer is working.

Happened to me on my '92 when the electrical and vacuum connections at
the servo under the hood were left unplugged. Check the connections. bob

Also, cruise can stop working if your master-cylinder brake-fluid
level is pretty low. I had that happen on a 1990 Celica once when
the fluid dropped as the brakes got seated -- i.e., no leaks just a
little drop in the fluid level. I cannot recall if the fluid was low
enough to illuminate the dashboard CHECK BRAKES light, but all it took
to get the cruise working again was bringing the fluid level up to
    normal.

If the vacuum connections were left unplugged
the cruise light would drop off in 1 second after
engaging the `set' button, in my test of course.

I'm thinking the mechanisms is not working properly under the
hood. Above speeds of 40 mph, peer outside and see if it's
working, with the hood open, of course.

It is now working again. I don't know. There must be a bad connection
somewhere or it doesn't like the cold.
