    Hello,

I recently purchased an '86 DX only to have the cam shaft snap two
days later. My cousing and I put in a newer engine (not an upgrade)
and we are still trying to work out the kinks. BTW, it's an automatic.

    Our kinks are:

    1) Engine has to idle pretty darn high to not die when put in gear.
We've played with the idle adjustments, but we are thinking we might
have to adjust the fuel mixture and are a little scared about that.
Let's just say we don't have a Propane kit handy...

    2) The engine tends to stall when coming to a sudden stop, or going
around a sharp corner. At first I thought this related to the idle
issue, but I am beginning to think the Throttle Control cable on the
Aut. Trans. needs adjusting because if you come up to a stop slowly,
just as it is about to die, it downshifts into first, and it doesn't
die. Same thing if you take a corner real slow, it doesn't die. This
is another adjustment that seems much more complicated than most...

    3) When the air-con kicks in, the engine is supposed to rev up an
additional 50 rpms to compensate for the sudden drain...well it
doesn't seem to do this. Any ideas there?

    4) The radiator fan comes on after running the engine for a while.
When you shut the engine off and turn off the key, the fan stops. When
you click the key on (but leave the engine off), the fan comes on
again...and stays on forever. We've checked our fuses...the only thing
I can think of is that the radiator thermosensor is working for high
temperatures, but fails to detect low temperatures...and then
    something electrical must be screwy...

Well, any advice or thoughts are welcome. Eventually I'm going to take
it to a mechanic, but we're trying to solve these problems ourselves
    before that time.

    Thx,

    }-]
