As I was told the honda dealership that did my timing belt & 90k work
on my 1990 prelude 2.0 S made a $xma$ list of things they think I
should get done right now. Here is what they said:

    Front spring broken $455
distrbutor cap & Rotor worn $85
    Front motor mount broken $161
CV Boots starting to crack $363
Radiator cooling fins coming apart $753
small oil leak from head gasket on back side of block, replace head
    gaset $950

Of course they expected me to get all this work done the next day but
those prices are high. After looking up the cost of a radiator on
www.performanceradiator.com going for $148 and labor qouted on groups
as $70 an hour or less for most jobs I'm thinking the indepepndent
route for the remaining work. The car runs great despite the list
they gave (engine runs smooth and body has minimal noise) and I'm glad
to have the dealer done timing belt/water pump/90k work but I want to
get all the reamining work done for under $1200 if possible. Is this
possible? Any qoutes from people who have had similar work done with
    indy mechanics?

Definitely check out an independent that specializes in Japanese cars.
Best if you can find an actual former Honda mechanic.

Distributor cap & rotor can be done by yourself for much less. Parts
should be <$30. Just position new cap next to old cap with the same
orientation. Change one wire at a time over to the new cap. Remove old
cap, change rotor and install new cap.

Small oil leak for $950! I'd let it leak!

Radiator for $753? Are you having any cooling issues? If not, you'll
probably be good till next Spring at least.
Get an estimate from a radiator shop (or 2)

Front spring/CV boots. Probably be best to get both done at the same time.
You should be able to get a MUCH BETTER PRICE THAN THE 2 QUOTED!
Get an estimate from a Front end shop (or 2)
You could probably get remanufactured half shaft assemblies and be woory
free for the next 100k miles. I'm not sure, but the half shaft may have to
be removed anyway to replace the spring.
