Need to know where I can decode the VIN of 2004 Civics. Have tried the
usual search engines but they only give me general information. Any site
or source would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Call your dealer. Or get a factory shop manual. Your dealer will have all
the shop manuals, which will identify the exact meaning of each character
    in the VIN.

The dealer should be happy to help you decode your VIN, especially if
you've been bringing the car in to them for warranty services.

Just for fun, from the factory manual, here's my Integra's:
    JH4DA9340MS8xxxx
    J - Japan
    H- Honda
    4 - Passenger car
    DA9 - Integra 3dr hatchback
    3 - 3dr with 5-speed manual transmission
    4 - "RS" trim level
    0 - check digit
    M - 1991
S - Suzuka factory in Japan, 200 miles west of Tokyo on Honshu
    8 - Canadian market
    xxxx <last 4 digits> - sequential assembly number.

Sorry, should be FIVE final digits (xxxxx), to make seventeen characters as
required by the post-1980 VIN format.

I entered the correct VIN for my 2003 Accord EX-V6, but the VIN
checker could tell me ONLY that the maker was Honda. It couldn't even
    identify the model.

That's too bad. Maybe the site was last updated long ago. I assumed that
it couldn't identify my Honda Civic or Ford Escape because they are both
hybrids, and might not be listed in a fairly recent site.

My 2000 Dodge Durango decoded nicely.

I sent them the breakdown of the 2003 Civic Hybrid from the Service manual,
but that's been almost two years ago.

Here's one that works for all of my cars, including a 2005.
    https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/default.asp

A Google search also showed some that are intended for printing a window
sticker for used car dealers. I didn't look at any of those.
