I heard that honda 2003 accords are having some problems with rotors not
staying true causing some shimmy on brake application. The problem will be
corrected on the 2004. Has anyone had this problem?

  2. Yes and the dealer turned the rotors free of charge and now everything is
    fine.

If they warped once, they will warp again and now you're down a cut for the
future. I know - I went thru this with a Chevy Malibu. Sometimes when
they're hot and you hit a puddle, they'll warp. Once we got new - better
made steel rotors, everything was fine. We just got an 03 Accord. If this
happens to ours, I will make them replace the rotors every time until they
tire of me or the warranty runs out. I learned from my mistake and ate the
cost last time. If the 04 is fixed then it must be the rotors and I'm sure
the 04 rotors will fit the 03 so put them on I'd tell them.

This was not a "warping" problem. It was caused by a bad measuring device
on one machining line. The problem was limited to a very small lot and was
permanently fixed by an equipment modification. it's unclear how many parts
in that lot were good, but it is believed most were in spec based on normal
direct pass rates in that area. Keep in mind that the machining specs for
most Honda parts are 2-3 times tighter than that required to be rejected.
There have been very few complaints on this issue and correction can be made
by simply turning the rotors at the dealer.

  5. Rejected by whom?... the OE suppliers normal tolerances?
Depends what you mean by "issue". The front rotor warping problem has been
chronic throughout the auto industry for ~10years or more and Honda has
been one of the worst. I hope the "machining" problem you mention is in
the OE rotor suppliers "line" and not Honda's... otherwise those guys with
the problem now are going to find any new replacement rotors fitted later
in the car's life needing to be turned on installation.

i just passed 6k miles on my v6 ex and when i brake at high speeds i get
SERIOUS vibration...also the 'maint req'd' light is flashing for 10 seconds
when i start it up, which it's not supposed to do, according to the owner's
manual..i was wondering if the two are related

  7. The two are NOT related, and if you look carefully at your owner's
manual you'll see that the "maintenance required" light is in fact
supposed to flash at you at 6K miles.

The maintenance required light simply goes off the odometer. It knows
    nothing more.

i saw 6k was an interval for the 4 cyl, but i didn't see it for the v6...i
also don't see that there's any maintenance recommended at 6k...

  9. It's simply flashing to remind you that 7500 is coming up. Nothing more.
