I heard that some white Hondas were single stage. Aside from using a
dark towel and some abrasive, is there a way to find out if my car has a
    clearcoat?

I can't answer your question directly, but would like to add an
observation about Black Toyota's and Lexus'. They, too, do not get a
clear coat and I'm not sure why that is. I wish my black Lexus had a
clear coat. The elements (bird poop) eat right into the finish.

If the official color does not metallic in it, chances are not.
You can always call the deal auto shop and ask based on your VIN#.

Well poop eats into clear coat too, and makes a rough, dull finish in
that area. I'm not sure that's much of an improvement.
