egr valve

My check engine light just came on and advanced auto told me it was my egr
valve. Should I clean out the carbon or do I have to replace the valve?

 

Clean it. If this isn't a really old car you should look for the cause
of its failure. Leaking oil or a misfiring cylinder will plug them up
fast.

clean out intake hold to egr valve
