My check engine light just came on and advanced auto told me it was my egr
valve. Should I clean out the carbon or do I have to replace the valve?

  2. Clean it. If this isn't a really old car you should look for the cause
of its failure. Leaking oil or a misfiring cylinder will plug them up
    fast.

    Hmmm. Psychic Wednesday.

It would be helpful to know what CODE they found, not the
interpretation, and what kind of Honda you drive (year, model, market)
and the mileage is good too.

Did you try searching the CODE on google?
