emissions warranty question

I was discussing a distributor problem (coil failed) with the honda rep
at the 800 number. I said it was covered for 5 yrs/50K miles under the
emissions warranty. But, he said that only applies if the coil causes
the emissions test to fail, otherwise it is covered 3 yrs/30K miles only.
Does that make sense to you? I thought they would be covered for the
5 yrs/50K miles for any failure. Which is the correct interpretation?

I guess I was not clear. The emissions warranty specifically says
the ignition coil is covered. My dispute with the honda rep was
whether a failed coil is covered under the general electrical warranty
(3yr/36K miles) or under emissions warranty (5yr/50K miles). He
says only 3yr/36K miles. I see in the warranty booklet, it says:
"For 5yrs/50K miles. If any emissions-related part on you vehicle
is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by Honda. This
is your short term emissions control systems defects warranty"
Seems to me it should be 5yr/50K miles.
