I have a 2002 Accord sedan that has shown an engine code. I took it
to a local Honda repair shop who said that the code indicated a
failure of a Bypass valve and a shut valve, I gave them the go ahead
to replace these two valves. This was done last Friday. Sunday morning
after driving less than 100km since the work was done the engine light
came on again. Having paid $170 for parts and $105 for labour I went
back to the repair shop who checked and said it was the same code as
before. There explanation now is the fault can travel back up the wire
and affect the computer. The offered to locate a used computer but
said I would have to take it to the dealership to have it installed as
it would have to be programmed to work with the ignition key. Does
anyone know what these valves are for ? I feel their explanation is
bit of a crock and am feeling I have been taken. Any comments.
