I have a '99 Honda Accord with 104k miles and my car was vibrating
violently. My mechanic told me I have a burnt engine valve and it
needs to be fixed by an engine mechanic. Anyone have this before??
How much did it cost to replace??

Almost a thousand dollars, all told.

It means you never had the valves adjusted, sad to say. Also that you
    rarely had the oil changed.

People, look after your car! See what happens when you don't?

Get a second opinion, for sure. Go to a (non-Honda) shop that does
Hondas and Toyotas, and just tell them you want to figure out the
'vibration'. If they conclude they need to do a compression test, go for
it. It will tell you a lot.

    If it's a valve, it's generally over $1,000 US.

Does your exhaust stink badly? (even when engine is warm?)

Thanks. No, the exhaust doesn't stink at all.

Actually, I change my oil religiously. I've had to add oil between
changes though b/c the car was burning it. I can rarely smell it, but
I know I don't have any leaks. I told my mechanic about it and he
differ have any explanation only saying that Honda's don't burn oil.

Actually, I had the oil changed religiously. The past 6 months though,
I've had to add oil between changes b/c the it was burning it. The
past month, I've had to add a ton. I rarely smelled it though and
there were no leaks. I brought it up with my mechanic and didn't have
an explanation, only that Hondas don't burn oil.

do the compression test first. if that's ok, has the timing belt been
done recently? maybe the balancer shaft is not set right.

They do, like any other engine, but it takes many, many miles.

You didn't look after your motor, my friend.
