Evap system problem-- is this common?

    I had a check engine light come on my 1998 Honda Accord, and they said there
    was a leak in the evap system that required replacement of the 2-way bypass
    valve and canister.

    This is the second time my light came on for the evap system (the first time
    was something inconsequential).

    Is this a common or recurring problem among Hondas?

    check vacuum hoses for cracks and leaks
    a auto parts shop should be able to read the code from computer and tell
    what might be causing fault.

    =====================

    It will make the light come on too often if you for get to tighten the
    gas cap, or overfill the tank. See Owner's manual for details.

    thank the epa for that one. a parts shop will come up with a code
    that says manufacturer specific code. it will either be a P1456 or
    a P1457 code for an EVAP leak.
