I have had intermittent problems with the "S" light flashing for about
2 years. Once it was even on solid for a time instead of flashing.
In every event, the speedometer worked fine, the transmission was in a
high gear (3rd or 4th, can't really tell) and I was able to shift
manually to a lower gear by moving the lever to one or two. In most
cases I was able to clear the problem by disconnecting the positive
battery wire for 15 seconds or so. I have done a little research and
    have questions.

Until recently I could not find the little blue service connector
(temporary blindness!), but have now found it and retrieved the codes.
    There are a lot of them, and it looks like I'm getting 2, 3, 5, 7, 8,
and 14. These are TCU codes indicated by the S light, not ECU codes.
Can anybody shed light on what these TCU codes mean?

This time the problem does not reset by disconnecting the battery
wire. But one time it did reset itself after the car sat for a couple
    of days!

    Thanks for your help!

PS: does anyone know what happened to www.tech2tech.net ? This link
has been mentioned in this group as containing info on a capacitor
that goes bad in the TCU and I would like to have that info. Thanks

pull the TCU out and remove the cover. the bad cap will be burnt,
likely the board will be discolored also. check the diodes and
resistors next to it also. i've seen them actually burn a hole in the
board. they can't all be fixed.
