    during clinton, americans got rich.
during bush(s) the rich americans got richer.

if it wasn't for the liberal ideal no progress would be made.
clinton raised competition, bush is content with monopolies.
i can bet that the money bush allocates for alternative energy
goes to researching new ways to sell oil.

next time theres a $3Trillion surplus, maybe they can use it to
fix the roads, schools, and other public amenities instead of
    throwing us a $600 bone.

In a nation not currently expanding nuclear-power generation, what
fuel is to be used to generate the electricity to release hydrogen
from water to power your fuel cells? Is there sufficient coal and
natural gas for this? If not, what will all this extra power
generation do to the price of these fossil fuels and the cost of
    electricity in general?

If there's any truth to this, which I doubt (and I'm no fan of Dubya),
it's pure coincidence. Clinton was simply the luckiest politician in
recent memory. The economic recovery he rode through most of his term
clearly started before he took office, and the recession, blamed by
fools on Bush, clearly started while Clinton was still in office. He
was responsible for neither. Statements like yours are made only by
those who are economically totally naive.
In reality, sitting Presidents have almost no ability to control the
economy and markets, beasts that have lives of their own and whose
actions defy all attempts to predict them and almost all attempts to
    control them.
In other words, "the government always knows better than I do how to
spend my money and improve my society." It's clear that the radicals
won't have to expend any effort re-educating you.

  5. In other words, "The government needs to do a better job collecting
and spending money." Huge, highly profitable corporations pay
little/no money into the coffers while we are now borrowing a
significant portion of the GDP to (among other stupid things) finance
a moronic adventure in Iraq. Meanwhile the schools are deteriorating
    and we have no national health care system. (I would like to know;
what is the second richest country without nationalized health care?)

Ever wonder why third world countries, especially the ones in South America do
    not have a

Whoever is regulating fuel price is doing an extremely poor job of it. It's
common to see huge price swings at the pump (one minuet it's 71 Cents and a
few hour later it will increase to 89 cents). It's apparent that price per
barrel does not account for the drastic price difference encountered at the
pumps. The end suppliers are definitely manipulating the prices to gain
maximum profit without upsetting the market. A possible reason for the
volatile prices is too keep consumers off balance so that fuel efficient
vehicles does not become a norm, which would lessen demands...

Don't think anyone *is* regulating the price of fuel. OPEC is making
attempts at regulating the price of crude oil, but even they are usually
    overrun by market forces.

  9. What you "bet" is neither here nor there in the scheme of things. If by
progress you mean things like the Kyoto Fraud and Daschle's bunco, I can do
    without thanks.
Well I'd like to have the roads fixed up before my cars get wrecked any
further but I'd sooner have the $600. than see it disappear into a barrel
of pork to finance some mad scheme like ethanol FFVs and the likes.

it may not be in your lifetime, but that $600 is going to have to be
paid back. its not like the government had a surplus of money sitting
around, like during the clinton years.

  13. As already indictaed, I think the idea was to trim $600. of pork from the
budget, however difficult that might be to achieve.

  15. The Gov. has no money. they have to steal it from us. The $600. doesn`t
need to be paid back. it just doesn`t need to be spent at all. Get your
socialist head out of my pocket. No socialist Gov has ever survived, it can
not happen, it is not possible. KB

by mad scheme ...and the likes, are you refering to war financing?
correct me if i'm wrong, i think the US currently spends the second
most money on military(behind china). this is either to:
    A. protect us from neighboring threats(canada and mexico)
    or
    B. go looking for conflictsand stick our nose in areas the UN doesn't
    want us to.

one of the reasons the US is the last superpower is because its self-
sustaining and threat free...until we stir up the threats(ie cold war,
    terrorism)

america greatest freedom is the freedom to invade other countries and
instill our money-grubbing ideal. and if you don't like it, we'll hate you
    like
    the French.

    just a random beef.
my girlfriend is a beer girl at a country club and she said they
have a permit to sell beer after 11am on sunday.
AFAIK the no-beer-sunday law is old and religiously based.
how come now you CAN sell beer on sunday?
    why the 11am cutoff?
how does buying the permit make everything ok?

btw, they are very strict on the11am rule, she sells only soft drinks
untill 11, then when the fear of gremlins is over she brings the beer.
