just bought a new 2004 CIvic LX last week and have 300 miles on it. I
    noticed two problems now:

I can hear some annoying humming(or drone) noise on the highway, say
    above
50mph. This noise is like sth scraping the road surface. Looks like it is
still there whether I press the gas pedal or not. I suspect tire noise?
    anyone has same experience?

    update:
I took my car to the dealer today. I was told it might be hubcap problem,
and causing some wind noise. it's ridiculous. Honda guy said there are
some complaints about Civic hubcaps. Never heard of this. my car still
    has
noise on the highway speed say 60mph. But looks like to be in and out.
    It's
hard to be heard above 70. The guy checked the brake, bearing and
suspension, said all are OK. so I don't know what causes the noise. Wind?
Tire? or Road? I only can hear on the driver's said, Honda guy thought
it's because of the existance of many hoses on the left side. Anyway,
confused. I exchanged the front two tires yesterday, the noise is the
    same.

  2. It sounds like tire noise to me with the info given.

The only way to tell for sure is to change road surfaces and compare at
same speed. Concrete roads are noisier than asphalt. I test drove the
Civic 2004 and found the amount of road noise irritating. So we ended up
buying the 04 Accord which is much quieter.

You may not be game for this on a new car but on my 96 Accord Ex, a few
years ago, I took out all the seats, door panels, trim panels, and trunk
trim panels. I installed dynamat type sound deadening, and bubble wrap
taped to the inside of the doors for reduction of actual air movement, and a
dense carpet foam type material throughout the car. The car is very quiet
    now.

Thanks for your information. The only thing I am curious is why the noise
can be in and out. it is clear between 50-65.

the only concern is i can hear the noise from driver's side. I exchanged
the two front tires, the noise is still mainly in the left side. another
thing is the noise seems only apparant at about 50-65. Do you think it is
really tire noise? Anyway, it is like "MVEE", very annoying.
