Gas 'flap' on 2003 Honda Accord EX-V6: broke off or never there???

I just noticed something puzzling when filling up my newly acquired
2003 Honda Accord EX-V6. I thought there was a small hinged metal
'flap' at the very top/opening of the neck of the gas tank. I don't
know the name of this part, so I'll try my best to describe -- after
removing the gas cap, it's a hinged metal flap that moves inward when
a gasoline nozzle is inserted to fill the tank. The flap then springs
back (closing the opening of the pipe leading to the gas tank) as the
gasoline nozzle is removed.

I'd appreciate it if someone would check his/her 2003 Accord to let me
know if I've broken this flap down into my tank...or if there was
never a flap to begin with.

Sorry for such an odd post...but my family has owned several Japanese
cars, and I thought they all had this 'flap.'

Honda has removed the hinge since the 98 redesign on the
Accord.

I disagree with Nick. I have a 2001 Accord EX and it DID have a
little metal flap that covered the opening to the gas tank beneath the
cap. Recently I noticed that it was gone and I am concerned that it's
in the tank now! I'm planning to bring my car in this week to address
the issue. If I learn anything conclusive I'll be sure to let you
know.

If anyone else knows anything about this I'm curious to hear if was
repairable and if Honda covered it under the warranty???

The obvious conclusion is... these damn flaps must be breaking off
like crazy.

My 2003 Accord EX-V6 does not have a flap and never did.

This is much ado about nothing... or at least about something that
doesn't exist.
