I have been getting about 180-200 miles per tank and i have only had
the car a week and I have had to fill up 2 times. So I inquired at the
dealer as to what the problem could be. Their answer was to adjust
tire pressure and have my fuel injectors cleaned. Its a 2002 Honda
Accord Ex-L V6 and its got 42k on it and I was thinking I shouldnt
have any problems with the car since the dealer did a 40k service
beforehand, so the dealer that I bought it from reassured me that the
car was fine and everything was normal and I just had to get used to a
lower gas mileage than my old car(2001 Mazda 626)wich got about
27cty/35hwy. so if some one has any advice it would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Dave

You are not giving us much to go on. What kind of driving are you
doing? The EPA estimates on your car are 20 city/28 highway. Is
yours less than that? What do you mean by miles per tank? How much
gas are you putting in at fill-up?

    You should expect 20 city /28 hwy. I have a '99 V6 and regularly get 26 mpg
with 60% at 60 mph. If 100% hwy, I get 35 mpg with cruise control at 78 mph
(8 mph over the limit.). I can't see it being tires, unless they are
essentially flat. Injectors sound unlikely as I just had mine cleaned for
the first time at 92k miles.

+ Are you confident that you don't have a fuel leak? Look under the car
after its been parked for a long while. Park in your normal spots
    (inclined/declined/side-angles)
+ are you doing all city driving and letting the car idle for long periods?
+ do you have a teenager who could be syphoning gas? hahaha
+ pop open your air filter and ensure that it is not "black" with dirt. I
assume that it is clean though.
+ does a clogged EGR valve cause poor gas mileage? I know that generation
(the '99 did anyway) had EGR recalls.

  4. To the good comments others have made I would add colder temperatures
as a contributing factor if that applies. The biggest culprit may be
your right foot. Do you accelerate faster and/or stop harder than
with your Mazda? Honda engines are very efficient, but if you demand
more power it has to come out of the tank.

Short trips are hard on milage also.
