Well, it makes me wonder. I just saw a new Seqoia on the way to work this
morning. It looked - similar to the new suburbans - like a bloated minivan.

Also, it had a label on the back saying it had a 5.7L engine.

    ****, that's a 40-year-old GM engine!

  2. Hmmm...why are the DEMOCRATS pushing the auto bailout through Congress?

Could it be they're trying to help their supporters and voters, the union
    rank and file?

Get real, Americans do not WANT small or midget cars offered by the imports
either. Domestics as well as imports best selling cars are MID SIZE cars.

The best selling vehicles in the US are not cars, they are trucks, and have
been for almost fifty years and STILL are today. The import brands know
that as well the is why they too build TRUCKS. Honda even made a truck on
car chassis to try to get some of the truck business.

  6. Not only Deming, but Ford. Ford execs went to Toyota and showed them how
to build cars after the war. They learned, and they learned well.

Toyota still operates on a modified, modernized version of the Ford system
they learned in the late 40's.

I've been saying that for a while. The problem is, the precious
*shareholders* are losing now as well. Toyota keeps turning a profit and
rewarding the shareholders by selling cars, GM kept making things cheaper
and cheaper to make the shareholders happy.

They should go bankrupt. It may teach them something.

    But I doubt it...

Now that foreign cars have redefined the term "mid size", you are
correct. Today's mid size is yesterday's small car. Buyers like you
didn't want anything to do with those small (now called mid size) cars
up until a few years ago. Foreign manufactures have redefined the
market. US manufacturers have steadfastly fought against it.
Well, I admit that there are a lot of pig headed cowboys like you who
think the definition of success is driving a pickup truck or honking
big SUV. Then again, there are people who think too - and most prefer
something more sensible unless they have lumber to carry or a boat to
    haul.

That aside, perhaps you'd like to post a citation on your suggestion
    that trucks outsell passenger vehicles?

You are confused, the federal government sets the size standard for cars and
trucks not the manufacturer Todays Jap cars simply got much bigger. You
have it backwards in any vent, today Corolla is bigger not smaller the old
Cressida Even Toyota buyers prefer Toyotas larger safer mid-size cars
than their small and midget cars. LOL

A pickup is almost a necessity for a suburban homeowner. That is, one
who's home is not governed by a Home Owners Association..
He said best selling vehicle, not that they outsell passenger cars.

The point still stands. The Foreign manufacturers redefined the market
    and what constitutes "mid size".
    Really?

Here are the specs for the last Cressida manufactured:
    Wheelbase 105.5 in (2680 mm)
    Length 189.6 in (4816 mm)
    Curb weight: 3439

And here are the specs for the current Corolla:
    Overall length 178.7
    Wheelbase 102.4
    Curb weight: 2822

The Corolla is shorter by 11 inches and 600 lbs lighter. Care to try
    again?
There you go proving my point that you're a stereotypical American
relic: "safer mid size cars". LOL. No wonder you like GM so much - you
are both still stuck in a 1970's mindset.

Maybe you should check the link you posted. Here's what Mike said:
"The best selling vehicles in the US are not cars, they are trucks,
and have been for almost fifty years and STILL are today."

Facts from the first search item returned by your link:

"The best-selling vehicle in the U.S. is now the Honda Civic.
USA Today explains, "Not only was Ford's F-Series pickup, a longtime
sales king, passed by Honda's Civic, the May leader, but also by three
more cars -- Toyota's Camry and Corolla, and Honda's Accord."

  12. Huh? I've been a suburban homeowner for 25 years and almost no one
    here owns a pickup.

When gas hits 3.50 the pickups drop below Civics and Corollas.

"The FBI has been forced to shift agents from terror and other crime
work to Wall Street investigations including the Bernard Madoff Ponzi
scandal, said David Cardona, head of the New York office’s criminal
    division.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has had to engage in “triage” in
responding to successive frauds involving subprime mortgages, auction-
rate securities and Madoff, who prosecutors said confessed this month
to bilking investors out of $50 billion, Cardona said in an interview
    yesterday.

The management of GM has been looked at for probable shifting of funds
during a few years of overall losses.

“We have to work those cases which we think pose the greatest threat,”
he said. “In this case, it’s a threat to the financial system and Wall
Street. It’s the same with mortgage fraud. I’m ramping these squads
    up.”

Will the FBI be invesagate Toyota? Toyota has been "shifting" the profits,
earned on the vehicles they sell in America, and they have been doing it US
corporate federal income tax free. LOL

  16. GM is a privately owned company. It is disingenuous of you to try to
confuse publicly traded with publicly owned.

And the difference is that the information on Toyota's tax payments
was pulled out of MH's butt, whereas the information on GM being
    investigated comes from credible sources.

You tried to start a flame war, and you succeed. Congratulations, you are
    officially a Troll.
What about the Japs? They are posting huge losses too. I suppose that is
    GM's fault though, right?
GM is learning to lie from the masters: The Japanese.
Bullshit. American's didn't want small shit boxes. Why do you think trucks
and SUV's were and are still so popular? Also, if American's wanted smaller
cars, why did Toyo start making there vehicles bigger and bigger? Trucks,
vans, SUV's, cars, all of it got bigger and bigger with each passing year.
Yawn. More bullshit. The Ford F-150 has been the best selling vehicle for
several decades, usually followed by the Chevy Silverado.
Fortunately you aren't the one who get's to choose who does and does not get
    a bailout.
But most Toyo fan boys won't admit anything of the sort. I have honestly
seen people say they are very happy with there Toyo, even when its in the
shop. There reason? "It's only in for a minor repair." What repair you
ask? "Oh, just the front suspension". Gee, how silly of me to think tires
flying off trucks could be dangerous.
The problem is the press likes to praise Toyo, but don't like to make
stories when they screw up. On the other hand, they have no problem making
stories when GM and Ford screw up, but are reluctant to admit when they did
    something good.
We're not talking about money here, we were talking product. You and every
Toyo nut like to throw out the old line "GM doesn't make anything the
American consumers want", and that is pure and utter bullshit. Here is what
    you said, in this post:
"As for Americans being stupid: The Bag-3 fought for years against building
the smaller cars Americans wanted and delivered absolute crap. The fact that
Americans didn't buy their products indicates their intelligence, not
    stupidity."

So, if Americans apparently are too intelligent to purchase Big3 vehicles,
why are the top 2 selling vehicles a Ford and a Chevy?
