Well I must say I was impressed with Honda this week.

My girlfriend has an HRV that developed a shudder in the CTV transmission.

We were told to be prepared to spend 9k getting this rectified.

Not being one to get cars serviced at the dealer, we went to Honda hoping
that they would cut us some slack as the car although 2 years out of
warrantee, had only done 55,000 kms ( 35,000 miles ?).

I was fully expecting that I was up for a fight, but to my surprise they did
    all the work for free.

This is a common fault with HRVs so I am just glad that Honda stood behind
their product, however this isn't always the case with other car companies.
I know Landover have an appalling reputation in handling such situations.

You often only hear when companies screw up, so I thought I'd post this one
    to balance things out.

I had a similar experience with my 98 Civic. I took it on
a road trip, over 10000kms from Winnipeg to Los Angeles,
through Death Valley, Vegas, Hoover Dam. All in late August
during a heat wave (it was over 120F in Death Valley). My
car had 162000 when I left, which is 2000km over my Honda
    Plus warranty of 7yrs, 160000km.

Well when I got back, my trannie was humming. Sure enough,
it was the input shaft bearing, which isn't the biggest
deal for DIY, but I took it in to my dealer anyways. They
offered to do the job on warranty. My clutch needed doing
too, the release bearing had been gradually getting louder
over the past 6 months, and they said they would do the
clutch while they were inside the trannie.

The only part they made me pay for was the clutch plate,
which is totally understandable, since it is definitely
a wear item. They didn't make me pay for any other
components, all others were covered under the warranty.

Oh ya, and while they were in the trannie, they replaced
all the bearings, 2nd and 3rd gear, and about $1500 of other
    parts.

Total Bill: $2800 (at their shop rate)
    Total Labour: $800

All in all, a great experience, i will definitely be a
Honda guy for a good long time.

I am still waiting and will soon find out tomorrow, if Australia Honda HQ
will approve to cover all the cost of repairing the shudder in my Honda
HRV CVT transmission. It is just 3.5 years and therefore just 6 months out
of service warranty, but this HRV have only travelled 52,000 kilometers.
The symptoms is that it gradually develop shudder recntly after the 50K
service. It shudders as it takes off from 0 KM/hr to 5 km/hr on a slight
uphill grade road. It is fine on level ground. The LH Sydney Honda Dealer
is very kind and helpful. I hope the is true with the Honda HQ as well
who will decide the fate of my vehicle.
