My coolant reservoir is empty (I've yet to check directly into the
radiator to determine if it's still full) and I'm getting a slight
'burnt coolant' smell when I turn on the heater fan after it's been off
for awhile. I think the problem might be do to a leaky heater core but I
welcome any other suggestions? I don't want to have the heater core
replaced if the problem might be attributed to a leaky hose.

I forgot to mention that the 'burnt coolant' smell is noticeable when the
heater fan is initially turned 'on' AND the air is set to recycle.
