Help with dash lighting

Ok, here is what happened. I drive 430 miles to NY. My car sits for 9
days. I try to start car today, turns over easily but doesn't start. I try
a few more times and the car finally starts. I also notice that when I turn
the key, and the dash lights, radio, etc light up, the backlighting for both
"P" and "D4" comes on. After 10 seconds or so, I hear a click and the "D4"
backlighting goes out. I never remember this coming on before when I am
about to start the car(yes, the car was in park). The car has run perfectly
all day, but this is just bugging me.
