Just got a 2001 accord ex, it has a security system, looks like
original factory, with stickers on window, and handheld remote
(python). Anyway, got 2 new keys made, and altho keys, unlock doors,
and can crank engine, can not start, but with 1 "factory" key the
engine starts, is there a chip in the key, that the copies dont have
and therefore the car is being immobilized. thanks for your help

    A) Your alarm is not factory. Python is made by D.E.I., same company as
    Viper.

    B) If your copied keys are "cheap", they probably don't have the chip in
them that allows the car to start.

Thanks for the response. Never had a vehicle with an alarm system
before. What do you suggest as to getting duplicate keys made and
another remote device, the dealer, or an shop that does alarm systems.
    Thanks again, appreciate your information.

Dealer or a good locksmith with the chip duplicator for Hondas for the key.

Any shop that carries alarms by D.E.I. (Viper, Python, Hornet) or maybe even
eBay. Just have to know which model/series alarm you have. Programming it
is fairly easy, but usually requires access to the alarm brain box (usually
stuffed up high under the dash near the steering column).
