Honda Accord EX, replaced battery, now CDPlayer is locked out

I replaced my main battery on my 2001 Honda Accord EX (V6)
and the loss of voltage to the Sony CD player caused it to lock
down and require a CODE. So I guess I have to go back to
the dealer, are they going to charge some fee for that?

They can't help you if it's been changed to a SONY unless they somehow
typed the CODE into your service file. You'll probably have to look in
the paperwork for the SONY, or contact the previous owner. Try looking
for NOTES: hand-written in your owner's manual.

No, my mistake, it's not Sony labeled but the official in-house Honda 6CD
changer player that the EX comes with. I guess it looks kind of "sonyish"
to me stylewise (maybe behind the scenes, Sony manufactures it for Honda).

Then, yes, the dealer CAN help you. Or, you can look through the things
you were given with the car. If you bought it new, it should have come
with the stereo code. If you bought it used, hopefully the old owner
passed it on.

Will the dealer charge you? Perhaps. But for just looking up the code, I
don't think they should...

 

Unless a record has been made of the CD radio player or you have the code --
look for a plastic card -- the dealer will have to pull the radio to get the
#. That will cost you.

 

Then read the PDF you were offered. Did you read it?

 

Yes, but the instructions there won't help. The car has no glove
box sticker for the radio. Hopefully carmax has the serial because
I really don't want to have the radio pulled.

I suggest adding a valve adjustment at the first or second oil
change, or around 7000 to 10,000k miles.

Replace dust and pollen filter.

Replace the filter at 15,000 miles (24,000 km) intervals if the
vehicle is driven mostly in urban areas that have high
concentrations of soot in the air from industry and diesel-powered
vehicles.

Replace the filter whenever airflow from the heating and cooling
control system is less than normal.

Inspect drive belt.

Look for cracks and damage, then check the position of the drive
belt auto-tensioner indicator.

Replace manual transmission fluid

Capacity: 1.9 L (2.0 US qt); use Honda MTF.

Replace automatic transmission fluid

Capacity: 3.1 L (3.3 US qt); use Honda ATF-Z1.

Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds results in
higher transmission temperatures. This requires transmission fluid
changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder.
If the vehicle is regularly driven under these conditions, change
the transmission fluid at 60,000 miles (100,000 km), then every
30,000 miles (48,000 km).

Replace spark plugs.

Use IZFR6K11 (NGK) or SKJ20DR-M11 (DENSO).

Use IZFR6K13 (NGK) or SKJ20DR-M13 (DENSO) for 4-door SULEV model.

Inspect the valve clearance (cold).

Intake: 0.21-0.25 mm (0.008-0.010 in.), Exhaust: 0.28-0.32 mm
(0.011-0.013 in.).

Replace engine coolant.

Capacity (including reservoir): M/T 5.1 L (1.35 US gal), A/T 5.0 L
(1.32 US gal); use Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2.
